Thankful for Options

Thanksgiving is all about the food. It’s the one day a year we allow ourselves to eat past the point of sanity and not even feel guilty about it. But the day also brings a lot of stress—sometimes more than the tryptophan can make up for. There’s the hunting, the gathering and the preparing. Oh, and the decorating, the drinking and the cleaning. It’s exhausting just thinking about it.

Although the holiday relies heavily on tradition, there are alternatives to the hectic details that come along with the huge turkey dinner. For instance, there’s the option of not cooking. And with this choice comes a host of others.

For the family who loves the day for the football game, why not make it similar to Superbowl Sunday? Call for a pizza, or buy a gourmet one at the supermarket and bake it at home, and grab all of the delicious fried side dishes you can find, complete with nacho cheese, of course. You can all be thankful for the time saved not slaving in the kitchen.

Another option, for those who love Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, is to build the day around that theme. Make some popcorn, hot dogs and hot apple cider and cozy up with some board games and Charlie Brown movies, after the parade. Best part is there’s minimal cleanup. That’s a win/win situation.

But, if the best part of the day for you is the traditional feast—the eating of it, not the making of it—the Bellevue Club is here to help. There’s something for every Turkey Day dreamer because this isn’t just any tradition, it’s a Bellevue Club tradition.
