In the month of February, we recognize two holidays that can stretch the gamut of our emotions—Valentine's Day and Presidents Day. Historically, both of these dates have conjured up wonderful feelings of love, pride and, sometimes, an unfortunate feeling of disappointment. In any case, this is a good time of year to reinforce commitment.
Commitment requires taking time and energy to complete a prearranged task. Now that we are a number of weeks into the New Year, I find myself validating recent commitments. How am I doing with my New Year's resolutions? Ha! I hope you have been more devoted and dedicated to your exercise commitment than I have.
Keeping commitments is necessary in every facet of our personal and professional lives. While Valentine's Day is the annual reminder of loyalty to our loved ones, we remain dedicated to our spouses and partners every single day of our lives. On Presidents Day, we are reminded of a more extreme responsibility held by a small collection of individuals who have committed to manage and direct our government in a forward direction. It's no surprise that more people are not interested in taking on that commitment.
On a local scale, our lives here at Bellevue Club and Hotel Bellevue thrive on commitments made all around us. Someone has to get here before 5 a.m. during the week to open the doors for the early swimmers, and we rely on a dedicated group of individuals who work overnight to maintain the property so it's ready for the new day.
Our room attendants are standing by to ensure the hotel rooms get cleaned and are ready for our daily arrivals. The culinary staff commits to preparing fresh, delicious prepared meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
At the hotel entrance, we have an expectation that our concierge and guest services department honor their commitment to providing the efficient delivery of luggage, room service items and cars parked with the valet.
The hotel itself has also seen commitments in action, including upgrades to each guest room and suite. In the hotel lobby, the Terrace Room makeover transformed the space to its original intent of being an extension to the hotel guest-room experience.
As we continue on into the year, you can be assured that the staff of Hotel Bellevue and the Bellevue Club will continue to make and honor commitments that remain mutually beneficial for members and guests.
Now, if I can just find that extra push to get into the gym this evening.
