Recently coconut oil has been touted as the rising star of the culinary scene. But its uses extend far beyond the kitchen. It turns out the oil is just as good for you on the outside as it is the inside. Plus, it’s all-natural, easy to find and even easier to use. Here are a few of our favorite at-home recipes that make great additions to anyone’s beauty routine.
Mix a spoonful of coconut oil with a few drops of tea tree oil. Put a light layer of the mask on your face overnight and wash it off in the morning. This mask can help reduce redness, calm acne and moisturize.
On very low heat, warm ½ cup of coconut oil with a tablespoon of honey. Apply the mixture to your hair, leave it in for 10 to 15 minutes, and then thoroughly wash with shampoo.
In a small bowl, mix together one tablespoon of coconut oil and one tablespoon of brown sugar. Add an optional drop of vanilla for added fragrance. Apply to lips and gently rub them together. Don’t worry if you get a little in your mouth; it’s edible too!
Relaxation Body Moisturizer
In a medium bowl, combine ½ cup of coconut oil with a few drops of lavender essential oil. Apply a light layer to your legs, arms, back, feet or any other body part experiencing dryness.
